Travel Throwback: Dallas, Texas

Written by:

Back in February, I took a quick weekend trip to Dallas, Texas, and it was a total win! I’m always down for a good adventure, and this one had everything: city exploring, good food, chill moments, and some serious relaxation. I stayed in a hotel right downtown, which was perfect because I could walk almost everywhere! No car stress, just me wandering and soaking it all in. Dallas gave me such a spark and I’m already itching to pack my bags again for more trips like this.

Aquarium Adventures

First stop was the Dallas World Aquarium, and it was epic! This place is next level and puts the Seattle Aquarium to shame (in my humble opinion). It has multiple floors and all sorts of fish and animals. I was geeking at the flamingos and couldn’t stop staring at their massive tanks with rays and sharks gliding by. The best random moment? Their humidifiers! I was way too impressed every time they went off. It truly made visiting feel like an experience. I know my house plants are jealous of a set up like that!

Pizza Window Heaven

Food wise, my favorite meal was hands-down at Poco Fiasco. Picture this: I’m strolling downtown, it’s a little chilly, and my tummy begins to rumble. Luckily, I stumble across a wonderfully enticing smell and follow it to the pizza window at Poco Fiasco! I ordered a slice called “The Texan” (loaded with all the good stuff), because it was only fitting. It was delicious—crispy crust, melty cheese, and just the right amount of sauce! There are all sorts of different restaurants to choose from, but the casual, quirky vibe of Poco Fiasco’s pizza window made me feel right at home.

All the good stuff = cheddar, pepperoni, HWD beef brisket, house BBQ sauce, and pickled red onion

WorldSprings: Social Wellness Retreat

The absolute cherry on top of this trip? A visit to WorldSprings in The Colony, Texas. Oh my gosh, this place was unreal. WorldSprings is an outdoor mineral hot springs experience. Their 40+ pools are inspired by 9 unique global destinations like The Blue Lagoon, Dead Sea, and Banjar. They contain the exact same minerals and healing properties and their temperatures range from 85° to 104°F. In addition to the hot springs, there are birch-lined saunas throughout the property. I can in fact say that I am now saving my money for a sauna because that was the most incredible thing! It was so cozy I wish I could hop in every day. On the complete opposite side of that, there are also cold plunges ranging from 45°-55°F. Cold plunges are said to reduce inflammation and improve your circulation, metabolism, energy levels, immune system and much more. I was brave enough to get in for two minutes and it was very hard. For a while, I felt like I could not take a breath and I couldn’t understand how I’d seen so many people doing this. However, once I calmed down and focused less on being in freezing water, it became easier. Don’t be fooled, I immediately jumped into the sauna after the two minute goal, I set for myself, was up. That made everything better and I understood a tiny bit more on why that combo is recommended. I booked a 3-hour soak and it was the perfect way to wrap up my trip before an afternoon flight.

After my soak time was up, I made my way to their lavish locker rooms and got ready to leave. However, I knew I wanted to grab a snack before leaving so I hit up their cafe and was very pleased! Their options were fresh and vibrant without being overly heavy. Every staff member was beyond kind, making sure I was all set and comfortable. They’re opening a new location, this summer, near Zion National Park and I’m already eyeing it! I can’t wait to book another trip to WorldSprings, and I’ll definitely be checking for long Dallas layovers in the future ;).

Why Book A Trip To Dallas?

This trip was the perfect mix of go-go-go and total chill. Walking downtown gave me that city energy, the aquarium sparked my inner kid, Poco Fiasco fed my soul, and WorldSprings left me floating (figuratively and literally). I came home so refreshed and ready to tell Dennis and Yuki all about it! Dallas reminded me how fun it is to explore new places even if you have a tighter budget and only a couple days to spare. I’m already dreaming up my next getaway, maybe with a travel brand or two to help make it happen!
